Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents one of the biggest challenges of our times that cannot be deferred any longer. The World Health Organization estimates that AMR will be the main cause of death by 2050. This event, dedicated to high-school student and organized by TLS Foundation, will illustrate what AMR is and present possible solutions that are currently being investigated by scientists. Among those, the development of new vaccines, based on high-throughput and state-of-the-art technologies, part of the vAMRes project, funded by the European Commission. This project, led by Dr. Rino Rappuoli, a pioneer in the vaccine field, obtained a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant and will be realized in cooperation with TLS Foundation as the “host institution”.
