Non-invasive prenatal diagnosis is essential in the early identification of genetic diseases. It is based on the analysis of fetal free DNA circulating in the maternal blood to assess the risk that the fetus is affected by DNA mutations responsible for genetic diseases such as beta-thalassemia.
