The event aims at highlighting the complex meaning of a biobank in the scientific sector, in the region, for patients and civil society. Researchers, representatives of the pharmaceutical industry, representatives of the biomedical manufacturing sector, patients and representatives of civil society will answer to the question ‘To what extent do I need a cancer biobank?’. The final debate will be led by representatives of Puglia Region placing the issue into the Apulian Regional Cancer Network.

Guided tour at the Biobank of the Bari Cancer Institute (Istituto Tumori di Bari) with a preface on cold technologies, cryoconservation methodologies, manipulation and analysis methods. The visit will retrace the itinerary that the biological sample follows from patient, to freezing through aliquot labs, immunophenotipic characterization labs until freezing at -20°C, -80°C, – 143°C, -179°C.
