It is now known that the internal organization of the vital functions of living beings, of any species, is under the control of the main biological clock (based in the brain) and peripheral clocks, present at the tissue and even cellular level. The light / dark alternation is the basis of the so-called circadian rhythms (from the Latin circa dies, approximately one day). This type of organization (Nobel Prize 2017) has opened a very wide range of applications, in the field of biological and medical sciences. Precision medicine, individualized medicine, timed therapy are all aspects that closely link chronobiology and biotechnology. Yet this discipline (and its applications) are still poorly understood. A seminar with public debate will be dedicated to this important and new field of research.
