The debate about the use of modern biotechnology in agriculture has been going on for almost 20 years, but its contents always tend to be abstract from the evidences and the proven facts. The experience gained worldwide in several conditions gives us consistent material for careful considerations, and data about safety and economic value of technology are widely available to face serenely a debate. In an economic circumstance which imposes even to Italian agriculture and to the “made in Italy” agro-food to defend its values of uniqueness, but also the competitiveness of the productive system, the question to be answered in order to meet the requirements of the supply chain is “Do we really not need GMO in our agriculture?”.
According to available data, this event tries to give a rational answer to the question.
