The First Andorran Biotechnology Forum is intended to be the first event in a series of initiatives that will continue over time, helping to position the Principality as a leading country in the biotechnology sector. The event will take place on 7 October 2014 and it will be attended by around one hundred professionals from the sector, from many different countries. The speakers that have confirmed their attendance so far include experts from the United States, Spain, France and Portugal, amongst others.

In this first edition, organised by the Andorran Biotechnology Association, the Forum will focus initially on a cross-cutting vision, discussing issues key to defining the sector, such as patent regulation, funding models and experiences in bioentrepreneurship. The second part of the event will be devoted to bioethical issues, an expert vision of the stem cell field and, turning to the subject of entrepreneurship, business opportunities, such as cell and tissue banks and their applications in regenerative medicine.
